Our history began in 1991, when The Upper Silesian Private College of Economics was founded.

In 1994 the name was changed to Katowice School of Economics. At that time two study programmes were offered as first cycle studies: Management and Marketing, Tourism and Recreation at the bachelor (licencjat) level.

In 1997 Management and Marketing was also offered as second cycle studies which leads to master (magister) degree. Following that in 2001 KSE received a license to conduct master studies in Tourism and Recreation.

In 2005 the Faculty of Management at KSE received permission to grant the title of doctorate in the field of Management, from this point the Katowice School of Economics obtained the status of an academic higher education institution.

In  2008 Katowice School of Economics opened an International Distance Department in Vienna, Austria for Polish citizens living in Austria.

Starting from the 2019/2020 academic year the name was changed to the Katowice Business University.

The management programme is also in English at first and second cycle studies.

The development of Katowice Business University was in full accordance with  Ministry of Science and Higher Education guidelines. KBU has  obligatory Polish ministerial accreditations. We have also non obligatory accreditations both Polish and international (e.g. European Council for Business Education).

Katowice Business University reaches top positions in the rankings of non-public universities in Poland every year.
KBU was also said to be in the top of the most prestigious Polish non public universities in a report made by “The Economist Intelligence Unit” and in the rankings of “Business Magazine".
